Earlier versions: 0.5.341 to 0.5.370
The Beta versions before the Wall Tool, in short: automatic updates, assemblies, the Assembly Designer, and roofs. All of them are on Stable now.
0.5.370: roof pitch, overhangs and the Rafter Tool
The goal: frame roofs with the same tool you frame floors with.
- Give the Joist tool a pitch, and the edge you click becomes the eave. Rafter length, rise and ridge height are worked out for you.
- An overhang pushes the eave out, and the rafters, fascia and sheathing follow the new edge.
- A ready-to-place Rafter Tool in the built-in tools.
0.5.360: the Assembly Designer
The goal: see a floor's layers and change them while you watch.
- A to-scale section of the floor in Tools → Assembly, with each layer dimensioned.
- Swap the joist material, a thickness or the order, and the section and a test floor update at once.
- Ceiling drywall comes with the Joist Tool, switched off until you want it.
0.5.350 and 0.5.351: assemblies
The goal: the parts of a floor travel together, but each can still be edited, labelled and priced on its own.
- Rim board and subfloor are their own linked items on a joist area, with clean corners.
- A joist area's Properties lists its linked items, so you can edit them in one place.
- Rim goes round every cutout too, and the joists through a hole stop at the rim.
0.5.341 to 0.5.343: automatic updates, rim all round, flush beams
The goal: new versions reach you without reinstalling, and floor framing takes fewer fixes by hand.
- DimSum updates itself in the background and installs when you click Restart to update or close DimSum, never in the middle of a job.
- Pick Stable or Beta in System Settings → About / Updates.
- Joist areas get rim on every outer edge, and a flush beam whose top lines up with the joists attaches itself, hangers and all.
